According to MacIver, “An organization deliberately formed for the collective pursuit of some interest or set of interest, which the members of it share, is termed as association.”
Ginsberg writes, “An association is a group of social beings related to one another by the fact that, they possess or have institute in common an organization with a view to securing specific end or specific ends.”

Like community it does not grow naturally. People make rules and regulations to run a particular kind of association.
Members of association run it according to these rules and regulations.

Aim of an association is determined: It is formed for predetermined purpose or with a predetermined aim. One imagines it without any aim. It cannot maintain its identity without any distinct aim and object.

Association is a true form of organization : It truly forms an organization of human beings because a group of persons collects together with some particular aim.

Rules and regulations are followed by members only : All the group of people are formed with certain rules and regulations. It also contains certain code of conducts. However, these rules and regulation as well as code of conducts are applicable to members of the association. It is obligatory for every members to follow these rules and regulations and co-operate with other members in the achievement of the goals of associations.

Membership of an association is voluntary : The membership of an organization is voluntary. A person becomes a member because he interest in it and like it and if he grows a feeling of dislike he is absolutely free to withdraw his membership of the group .It does not form a natural organization, and one cannot ask every member for a contribution on natural grounds.
