Special Provision Related to Women In IPC
- Cohabitation caused by a man deceitfully including a belief of lawful marriage. (Section – 493).

Dishonestly or fraudulently going through a marrying ceremony during lifetime of husband or wife knowing that no lawful marriage is thereby created (Section -494).

Marrying after concealment of former marriage from the person with whom subsequent marriage is contracted. (Section -495).

Fraudently or dishonestly going through a marrying ceremony of being married knowing that he is not thereby lawfully married (Section -496) .

Adultery (Section -497)

Enting or taking away or detaining with criminal intent a married woman (Section -498).

Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty. (Section 354)

Rape (Section 375)

Cruelty to a married woman by her husband or his relatives. (Section-498(A))

Sexual intercourse by a man with his wife during separation. It criminalizes sexual intercourse with a separated wife without her consent. (Section 375A)

Words, gestures, or acts intended to insult the modesty of a woman. (Section 509)
These are some provisions under the IPC that specifically address crimes against women. There are also other laws and acts, such as the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, which provide further protection and support for women in various situations.
Explanations: – For purposes to this section. Cruelty means: –

Any wildful conduct which is of such antive as is likely to drive the woman to commit suicide or to cause grave injury, or danger to life, limb or health (whether mental or physical) or the woman; or

Harassment of the woman where such harassment so with a view to coercing her or any person related to her to meet any unlawful demand for any property or valuable security or is on account of failure by her or any person related to her meet such demand.
