History of International Relations
The evolution of International Relations has a long history, dating back to ancient times when philosophers like Thucydides and Aristotle wrote about the nature of war and peace. However, the modern discipline of International relations emerged in the post-World War II era, particularly in the United States. The establishment of the League of Nations and later the United Nations marked the beginning of a new era of international cooperation and institution-building.

International Relations Definition :
International Relations are defined as the study of the relationships between nations, states, and other actors on the global stage. It involves analysing the interactions between sovereign entities, intergovernmental organizations, non-state actors, and multinational corporations. International relations are concerned with understanding the dynamics of power, cooperation, and conflict among these actors, and how they shape international institutions, norms, and laws.
The term international relations has been interpreted and defined in two senses- narrow and broad.
I. In the narrow sense, the study focuses on “official relations conducted by authorized leaders of the State.” According to Prof . Dunn , international relations are “the actual relations that take place across national boundaries or as the body of knowledge where we have of those relations at a given time.”
II. In the broader sense, according to Hartmann- International relations include “all intercourse among states and all movements of people, goods and ideas across national frontiers. However, as a field of study its focus is on the processes by which states adjust their national interests to those of other states.”
III. According to Stanely Hoffmann – “The discipline of international relations is concerned with the factors and activities which affect the external policies and the power of the basic units into which the world is divided.”
IV. According to Trygve Mathiesen – International relations embrace “all kinds of relations traversing state boundaries, no matter whether they are of an economic, legal, political or any other character, whether they be private or official”, and “all human behaviour originating on one side of state boundary and affecting human behaviour on the other side of the boundary.”

peace and security.

IV. Addressing Emerging Challenges: International Relations enable us to respond effectively to emerging challenges such as cyber threats, nuclear proliferation, and
